Thankful to live in the US

I would never miss or be late for morning roll call at the Donut Den on Pacific Coast Highway in Torrance. We have a special “gang” meeting there and have solved most of the world’s problems. One of our loyal members is Margo from Mexico and last week some of us went to the Los Angeles Convention Center to see Margo and 3,500 others take the oath to become citizens. It was a very impressive ceremony and most heartwarming to see the big smiles and tears of joy as Lee Greenwood sang “I’m glad to be an American where at least I know I’m free .”

It seems like we have become so critical of our politicians, the economy, health insurance, etc. I would like to challenge you to join me in sitting quietly for five minutes and count our blessings along with these new citizens. The U.S.A. is still a mighty good place to hang our hats.
